Apparently El Peyote has been open for 6 weeks and whilst I hadn't heard anything about it, driving past it yesterday inspired me to drag my other half down for a post-movie meal last night - I was not disappointed!
El Peyote purports to be a mix of Mexican and Mediterranean food and it's certainly an tight and interesting menu with lots of choices outside the regular 'Mexican' fare. My starter of prawn kebabs done in chilli and lime juice with a mango puree was really tasty without being overpowering but the piece d'resistance was the burritos. Amazing melt in your mouth flavoursome filling in light crispy burritos with tomato salsa and chunky guacamole - and a decent size serving too for £9!
The music was a little bit loud but the decor is quirky and colourful and the staff were helpful and attentive without being over the top, friendly and asking for feedback (a rarity these days) so when we mentioned the music, they turned down the speaker closest to us.
It's a tough time to be opening any new business but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit last night and hope that El Peyote manages to establish itself firmly in the Kingston landscape particularly so that we can go back!

Here at El Peyote, we have created a new fusion style based on the very best of Mexican & Mediterranean cooking Mexiterranean
...
I'd not been here for ages - maybe even a year or so, but myself and blokey popped by the other night for a quick meal and it was as good as I remember. It doesn't set my world on fire but the food is good, the service is excellent and there's a good selection on the menu. Won't leave it so long again next time!

El Peyote in Richmond Road serves an innovative combination of Mexican and Mediterranean flavours that theyve christened Mexiterranean. This makes for a unique dining experience with freshness and spice delivered in equal measure. The management pride themselves on the quality of the service they offer with the customers needs always put first.
