Today saw a lovely procession through Surbiton to mark Good Friday. The event was organised by Surbiton Churches Together, who are a group which represents the coming together of 11 Churches in Surbiton. Every Good Friday they hold the ‘Procession of witness’ which consists of a Church Service followed by a procession with a large Cross at the front. This year they started off at Surbiton Hill Methodist Church in Ewell Road and ended up at the YMCA in Victoria Road. It was a lovely morning and the weather ensured a great turnout. We met with Adam Stacey, who is the Minister of Surbiton New Life Church and also the Chair of Churches Together in Surbiton. It was Adam who explained most of what was happening to me and I hope I haven’t made any mistakes in my brief description above. There was no need to be religious to have enjoyed the procession and short service this morning, although of course it does help.
