Can Surbiton build it? Yes it can!

Bob the Builder would be proud of Surbiton as suddenly many of building sites that have been closed for the past year have suddenly burst into life. Many sites being developed by local company CNM Estates have been padlocked for the last year.

The doors finally re-open in Brighton Road

Is this the begining of the end for 'the hole'?
The site in Brighton Road, known as Surbiton Place, looked close to being completed when the workmen left the site at short notice last year. The site is currently a hive of activity and the office site to one side of it is up for sale.
The workmen are also working hard on Surbiton Plaza, behind Zizzi. Hopefully this means they will also start to build on the ‘hole’ in Victoria Road, where the shops were knocked down to gain access to the site.
CNM Estates stopped building locally about a year ago. We understand that at least some of the sites are now being worked on in conjunction with another developer/builder. Whatever is going on in the background, this is excellent news for Surbiton. You may not be a fan of yet more flats in Surbiton, but these sites have already been started and are currently an eyesore.
A knock –on effect of the new flats being completed could be that more people will shop in and around Victoria Road. The local businesses will be grateful for the improved trade.
