Surbiton rower Moe Sbihi is concentrating on Olympic glory this Christmas.  The GB Rowing Team long-distance trials have just taken place in icy Boston, Lincolnshire.  Moe finished second in the men's pair with Alex Gregory ahead of the up and coming World U23 Champion from Guildford George Nash rowing with his title-winning partner Constantine Louloudis from Bayswater.

Sbihi's Club teammate Andrew Triggs Hodge (Beijing Olympic Champion in the four) won the event with Alex Partridge.  1992 Olympic gold medallist Greg Searle rowed with fellow Molesey Boat Club member Cameron Nichol and finished fourth.

With Great Britain having such a top quality squad of rowers, it's tough just to get into the team.  So it's great to see Surbiton's Moe Sbihi putting in some promising performances against previous Olympic medal winners.

Moe has little time to rest though if he is to race for gold at the London 2012 Olympics.  The squad will continue to be assessed over the coming winter months ahead of the next major milestone - the GB Rowing Team Senior Trials on the Olympic course at Eton-Dorney in March 2012.  Good Luck to Moe in 2012; I'm sure he will do Great Britain (and of course Surbiton!) proud.
