The off-licence in Surbiton Station is closing.  Ex-Cellar took the Station shop over from Oddbins when the company closed earlier this year.  The shop is expected to close at Christmas or New Year.

However, there is a possibility of Ex-Cellar remaining in Surbiton.  They are thought to be considering the empty Moben, Sharps & Dolphin shop on the corner of Brighton Road and Victoria Road.  This is a large and prominent site, but it is also close to their main competition: Majestic and Laithwaites.  Ex-Cellar are currently advertising price reductions of up to 40%.

This news will also mean that speculation will resume about what type of shop will take over the important Surbiton Station site.  It was previously reported that Tesco were interested in opening a store there.

Ex-Cellar are moving into the empty Moben, Sharps & Dolphin shop on the corner of Victoria Road and Brighton Road. As detailed in our article dated 7th December, they have decided to move down the road to the large corner shop that has now been empty for some time. They have applied for a licence to open seven days per week from 10:30am to 9:30 pm. The deadline to write into the Council about the licence is 20th January, with the decision being made shortly after.
