Surbiton Ski Sunday returned today with a host of brave souls sliding (on skis and off!) down St Mark's Hill in central Surbiton.  A huge turnout cheered the contestants as they competed for team and individual titles.

There was a huge variation in styles with some trying to glide, some pushing with sticks, some trying to run and some who seemed to spend most of their time sprawled on the floor.  The St John Ambulance were ready waiting for their victims, but fortunately only a couple of people suffered from a few bruises; although there were many bruised egos!

The event this year has interested the national press and there were many more cameramen covering the event this year.  As well as lots of fun, the event was also raising funds for Shooting Star Chase which is an excellent local charity.  There were even hot snacks provided free by Surbiton Pizza Express.

This is a great annual event and everyone turns up for the fun of it.  Despite this there are a few who have their eyes glued on the prizes and records.  We didn't see a broken world record this year (which was set last year), but there were a few who weren't too far away.

Team Milk won the Gold in the team event, with Jack (current world record holder) picking up the Gold for the fastest time of just 11.34 seconds.  The full results are listed below.

Team Milk were not awarded the Gold, since one of them completed the course on his belly and not on foot, on blocks of ice, as is generally accepted. The Rainbow Worriers are therefore the current Champion Urban Skiing Team.
