Surbiton Hockey Club hosts "Big Weekend"

Surbiton Hockey club are preparing for a "Big Weekend" which is a fundraising drive to help improve facilities.

The club based on Sugden Road have 12 senior men's sides and 8 ladies league teams, which include a number of England internationals.

They're putting up the stands for a weekend of games.

Matt Daly is an England international Team GB Olympian, he said: "Things are adequate at the moment, but we're one of the largest clubs in the UK."

"I think it would be quite fitting to have some changing rooms and decent pitches to go with it."

The pitch at the moment is currently used by local schools and teams.

Matt added: "It's not just a hockey club, it's for everyone to use, so it gives something back to the community."
