Veteran crooner Karl Prinz will be among the talented local

musicians entertaining visitors to Surbiton Farmers' Market this Saturday (June

16).

76-year-old Surbiton resident Karl was among the contestants at

the recent Surbiton Farmers' Market's Got Talent, which saw 11 acts competing

for the chance to play at the spring and summer markets in Maple Road. Karl

wowed the audience with songs from the musical, Oklahoma, just as he did in the 60s on TV's Opportunity Knocks.

Joining him at Saturday's market will be local duo Josh Burrows

and Martha Christofou, just 14 and 13 years old, and singer/guitarist Zac

Pajak.

The market runs from 9am to 1pm and performances are at 10am

(Zac), 10.45am (Josh and Martha) and 11.30am (Karl).

Among the 26 stallholders at the market will be Surrey farms

Garsons, selling its new crop of strawberries, and Secretts with a superb selection

of top-quality vegetables, salads and seasonal fruits. Ringden Farm from the

Kent/Sussex borders will have its award-winning juices and English apples

The charity stall this month is Cats Protection. The Fircroft Trust

raised £315

at the May market through sales of plants and containers, and the market donated

£250 to add to its funds. The organisers' stall will also have details of the

International Youth Arts Festival 2012, which opens this week.

The

popular market is a finalist in the South

London Business Awards for its Commitment to the Community, after winning this

category in the Kingston Business Awards 2011.
