The Walnut is a new Coffee Shop and Deli near Berrylands Station.  It is a welcome new opening for the parade of shops in Chiltern Drive, Berrylands.

The owners of the Walnut hope that they will become a hangout for local residents who will visit during the day; as well as picking up trade from those using Berrylands Station.  They sell locally roasted fair Trade coffee, fresh pastry, sandwiches, baguettes, Panini, fresh bread, salads, cakes, fresh juices, jacket potatoes, past and much more.  Eat in or take-away, with a 10% discount for students.

The opening of the Walnut is great news for Chiltern Drive, which has struggled as a shopping destination in recent years.  There are some good shops along there, such as The Bookroom (second hand books), Artefact (picture framers), and Elsa Brown Flowerstyle.  But there are a couple of empty shops and a few too many offices.  The street is also looking a little unloved as the Council haven't replaced dead trees.

So we wish the Walnut Coffee Shop and sandwich bar the best of luck.  We hope that local residents support it and that it can be the catalyst to improvement throughout Chiltern Drive.
