Surbiton businesses were put on alert today after a man passed on counterfeit money in a Surbiton shop.  Apparently the Police are aware of this happening in the area and say that they have reports of people buying small value items so as to get the change.

Several shops and businesses have been caught out today that we know of.  The man in question was seen in Victoria Road and was white male, wearing navy blue jeans, navy blue sports jacket and a navy blue sports cap.  Local shops and businesses will obviously need to be on their guard, but this should be a reminder to us all to check the money we are given.

I guess with such good quality scanners and printers, half-decent counterfeit money is getting ever-easier to print.  If you have any suspicions, you should contact the local Police as soon as possible.  Hopefully the CCTV will help track down the culprits before too many other people get caught out.
