There are calls for volunteers in the Surbiton division of Girl Guiding which covers Surbiton, Berrylands and Hook and Chessington.

It's because there's on average 5 enquiries a week and 70 girls on a waiting list.

Across the three age groups there's 380 girls attend the group.

They're being managed by around 115 volunteers from all walks of life including, nurses, students, teachers, office workers and council members.

Victoria Ling, who volunteers for the groups says: "It's a great activity to get involved in, and the children get alot out of it."

"People say they can't volunteer, say they work, but all the volunteers we have work aswell so it shows it can be done."

"It's good fun, it builds character and it looks good on the CV when you get involved."

Children could be waiting as long as two years before getting a slot.
